The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is hosting Magdalena Bezanilla at 3:45 p.m. in Williams Hall Room 111 as part of the 2010 Colloquium Speaker series.

Bezanilla is an associate professor in the Biology Department at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

She will present “PI(3,5)P2 is critical for Formin-mediated Polarized Growth,” which is based on her research.

Students, especially those in science fields, will benefit from this event by learning about PTEN and formin proteins, which are important in plant cell growth and other cell functions, said Arne Gericke, Kent State professor.
