Football team retires Josh Cribbs’ number

The Kent State Athletic Department will retire former Kent State quarterback Josh Cribbs’ number at the football game on Oct. 30, the department announced at a press conference this afternoon in Cleveland.

Cribbs, who currently is a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, played for Kent State from 2001-2004. In that time, he broke seven offensive records for the Flashes, including rushing touchdowns (38), passing yardage (7,169), total offensive yards (10,839) and pass completions (616).

Cribbs’ No. 9 is just the fourth number retired by the football team. Kent State has also retired the numbers of Eric Wilkerson (40), Jack Lambert (99) and Jim Corrigall (79).
