BSR morning update for Mon. March 22, 2010

Ryan Collins

From the Franklin Hall newsroom on Monday, March 22, I’m Steven Webster, and here’s what’s happening…

The House of Representatives passed a landmark health care reform bill yesterday. The sweeping overhaul of the nation’s health care system is expected to cost $940 billion dollars and insure 32 million Americans. The bill is expected to be signed into law by President Obama some time today.

And now we go to BSR’s Ryan Collins for a story on immigration.

Thousands of people were in Washington D.C. yesterday for an immigration rally. President Obama spoke to the demonstrators over video screens, saying he would work to have a bipartisan bill done by this year. The President supports a new plan by Senators Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham. The plan includes a way for illegal immigrants to become legalized.

Now for sports, we back to Steven Webster.

Thanks, Ryan

The Kent State Women’s Basketball Team’s season ended last Friday with a 69-34 defeat by Michigan at the Women’s National Invitational Tournament. The Flashes had been eliminated from the MAC tournament just the week before.

Now for today’s weather, we go back to Ryan Collins.

Thanks, Steven.
