Black Squirrel Radio’s morning podcast

From the Franklin Hall Newsroom, I’m Lauren Miller with your news for Friday February 26th, and here’s what’s happening…

A Singaporean-flagged chemical tanker was finally freed from Somali pirates this morning. A ransom was delivered by parachute in a waterproof container. This is a common way for multimillion dollar ransoms to be delivered. The crew of the tanker was safe. Details have not been released about the tanker that was under seize back in January. The European Naval force expects to see a spike of pirate activities in the coming weeks because spring weather makes attacks easier to launch. The European Naval force also expects to see more attacks about 600 to 1,000 miles off the coast of Somali.

Here’s BSR’s Steven Webster for your national news

Dawn Brancheau was standing in knee-deep water performing with the whale when the incident happened. The killer whale, Tilikum, has been involved with two other deaths since 1991.
