Watch footage from Monday night’s accident.

One person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after two cars collided at the intersection of East Summit Street and state Route 261 last night.

The accident, which occurred at about 9:30 p.m., happened when a blue Honda Civic turning left to go east on Summit Street hit a white Mazda 6 heading north on Route 261, a witness said.

The Honda spun around in the left-turn lane while the Mazda careened into the ditch on the right.

Sgt. James Prusha, of the Kent Police Department, said he didn’t know if there were any passengers in the car. A full police report is pending medical treatment of the hospitalized person.

A man who identified himself as the driver of the Mazda declined to comment.
