Students traveling on parts of Eastway Drive will need to take an alternate route the next few weeks.

The road and sidewalks near the intersection of Eastway Drive and Senhauser Drive will be closed for pedestrians and motorists between Monday, July 20 and Monday, Aug. 10 to repair a steam line beneath the street. The repairs are scheduled to be completed by Friday, Aug. 14.

Scott Centea, project manager for the office of the university architect, said the project would be split in half and the streets will be closed in two sections. He said the construction may cause an issue for handicapped students because walking detours will be through gravel paths.

Through traffic will be detoured around the Eastway Center onto Senhauser Drive. For a portion of the scheduled construction time, access to the Eastway S-37 parking lot will be blocked off, and a temporary access drive will be installed from the Library R-6 parking lot to the Eastway S-37 parking lot.

Motorists are asked to use caution around this area.
