The city of Kent will spend $26,259 in extra staffing as a result of last month’s riot on East College Avenue.

Kent Safety Director William Lillich said that toll comes from paying police and firefighters overtime during College Fest on April 25, according to an Associated Press report.

The cost also includes the additional officers on duty the weekend of May 2, when more end-of-the-year block parties were scheduled.

The more than $26,000 will come out of the city’s general operating budget.
