Softball goes 2-1 in weekend games

Kent State’s softball team got back on the winning track this weekend in Charleston, S.C., winning two of its three games against opponents Charleston Southern and North Florida.

The Flashes (7-11) defeated Charleston Southern twice and lost their only game against North Florida.

Yesterday, the Flashes had their best offensive outing of the weekend, posting eight hits as a team in their 3-2 win over Charleston Southern. Their games Saturday ended in a 1-0 win over Charleston Southern and a 2-1 loss to North Florida.

Junior pitcher Kylie Reynolds carried the team all weekend, posting 33 strikeouts in 18 innings. Reynolds pitched two complete games against Charleston Southern and another four innings against North Florida.

Senior right fielder Katie Wheeler led the team with four hits and a .571 average through the three-game stint.

Kent State will continue its road trip with a doubleheader against Kentucky at 3 p.m. March 24.
