Soccer ends scoring drought, beats Eastern Kentucky 1-0

After not scoring a goal in the last three games, the Kent State soccer team scored the only goal at Eastern Kentucky yesterday afternoon and ended its three-game losing streak with a 1-0 win.

The goal was scored at the 83:30 mark by sophomore forward Annie Messer off of a header from junior midfielder Catharine Marosszeky.

The Flashes (3-4) outshot Eastern Kentucky 14-11, and freshman goalkeeper Kelly Sherwood recorded seven saves in the win. The Flashes committed nine fouls to Eastern Kentucky’s 11.

The win improves Kent State’s road record to 2-4 this season.

The Flashes will return home for the start of Mid-American Conference play against Ohio at 4 p.m. Friday.
