Professional BMX riders Ryan Jordan and Brett Walker will perform today at Risman Plaza between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The riders are part of The National Guard BMX Freestyle Freedom Tour ’08, which is traveling across 17 states to promote athletes and soldiers.

Maj. Michael Baptista, advertising branch chief for the National Guard, said the tour came together because athletes and National Guard soldiers have much in common. Both practice discipline, hard work and sacrifice to create a team that can achieve honor, excellence and victory.

In addition to Jordan and Walker performing tricks and stunts, 30-minute clinics will be offered to students who would like to learn BMX basics.

Free giveaways and autographed professional photos will be available throughout the day along with National Guard recruiters, who will have an information tent in the plaza. For more information go to http://1-800-GO-GUARD.com/BMX.
