Volleyball beats Providence, Maine

The Kent State volleyball team finished the University of Maine tournament 3-0 by defeating Providence College and Maine today in Orono, Maine.

After dropping the first game 25-23 to Providence, the Flashes (5-1) won the next three games, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-16.

Kent State took the first game from Maine by a 25-13 score, but 12 hitting errors led to the Black Bears topping the Flashes 25-11 in game two. Kent State finished out the match by winning 25-19 and 25-22.

Sophomore Lauren Jones set the pace offensively for the Flashes, recording 36 kills and six aces in the two matches. Ashley Feutz notched the 1,000th kill of her career on her first of 14 kills against Providence. She had 29 kills between the two matches today.

On defense, sophomore Kristen Barr led the team in digs with 22 against Providence and 21 against Maine.
