Weekend brings Lil’ Sibs and lots of animals

Campus will resemble a zoo this weekend, complete with camels, monkeys and hundreds of children.

This year’s theme for Lil Sibs is “Sibs on Safari.” It’s sponsored by Kent Interhall Council, numerous hall councils, Black United Students, Dining Services and All Campus Programming Board. Lil Sibs is open to students living on or off campus and siblings ages 5 to 17.

About 1,500 people are signed up for Lil Sibs, and KIC president Traci Sanders said she expects that number to double tonight when late registration opens.

Students can register their siblings from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight in Eastway Center and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the KIC office in Tri-Towers.

Participants must also pick up a wrist band to participate in the weekend’s events. The wrist band gives students a discount for certain activities such as ice skating and going to the rec.

Although the schedule isn’t finalized, some events include a petting zoo, monkey show, camel rides and a masquerade ball. Sanders said participants will receive a schedule during registration. Extra T-shirts will also be for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis.
