Women’s golf still in the hunt after day one

After two rounds Monday, the Kent State women’s golf team sits in second place at the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Golf Club in Parrish, Fla.

The Flashes shot 11-over-par in on the day, 304 in the first round and 299 in the second. Michigan State is 14 shots ahead of the Flashes at 13-over-par.

Individually, senior Kira Miexner is in second place at 1-over-par shooting a 72 in the second round. Junior Kirby Dreher started slow at 3-over-par in the first round, but played even par in the second and is in fifth place.

The only player under par is Michigan State’s Sara Brown at 1-under-par.

Other golfers for the Flashes are freshman Martina Gavier tied for 16th at 7-over-par, senior Tara Delaney at 18-over-par and junior Maddi Swaney at 24-over-par.

The Flashes tee off again tomorrow for the third round and final round at 8 a.m.
