Student protest April 1969

A rally in front of the student union calls for the end to the war and imperialistic oppression by the United States. The group marched through Merrill and Kent halls, shouting “these buildings are ours,” then went to the Music and Speech building, where glass in a door was broken so the protesters could get in. They pried the hinges off the doors and broke the chains keeping them closed as they occupied the third floor of the building. The protesters called for an open student conduct hearing for SDS leaders Colin Neiburger and Alan DiMarco, whose hearing was interrupted by the protest.
