Xbox tourneys resume with Call of Duty 4 competition

The digital battle on the controllers at Kent State continues tonight in the Rathskeller when the Xbox 360 tournaments return. Tonight’s contestants will square off in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The latest edition of the Call of Duty franchise takes place in modern times, unlike prior editions that occurred during World War II. Contestants will compete in four-player battles, and the tournament will be determined during a two-player battle.

Kent Student Center Programming is teaming up with the All-Campus Programming Board to hold Xbox 360 tournaments throughout the semester. Some of the other games that will have tournaments include Madden 2008, Halo 3 and Guitar Hero III.

Guitar Hero III was the most popular game last semester, receiving an impressive turnout of 50 people. Its popularity has warranted a tournament every other Tuesday and the possibility of a championship in the Student Center Ballroom.

Students who want to participate in tonight’s tournament need to sign up in the Rathskeller at 9 p.m. Students who have any ideas for other game tournaments can contact Kevin Pospichel, manager of Kent Student Center Programming, at [email protected].
