Unitarians host Soulful Sundown

The Unitarian Universalist Campus Ministry Group of Kent State will host a “Soulful Sundown” worship Sunday night at 8:30 at the U.U. Church of Kent at 228 Gougler Ave.

The service theme is “Darkness and Light.” Renee Zimelis Ruchotzke, U.U. Campus Ministry coordinator, said the idea is to learn to integrate positive feelings with the idea of darkness, instead of the traditional negative connotation darkness possesses.

“We are a very open group, welcoming Unitarians to explore their religious backgrounds and upbringings while also providing a religious atmosphere for students who are searching for a religion without a dogma,” Ruchotzke said.

The worship will include sharing activities and music, followed by a chili dinner provided by the members of the U.U. Church of Kent. Music is provided by local musician Hal Walker, who has worked with the church for years.

The worship is open to students of all religions, and a social hour will follow the dinner.

“It’s a great experience to meet people and learn how we worship,” Ruchotzke said.
