Senior Scott named to Preseason All-MAC team

Kent State senior forward Mike Scott was named to the preseason all-Mid-American Conference men’s basketball team Tuesday. Members of the MAC News Media Association and basketball coaches from the conference voted on Scott.

Scott averaged 9.4 points per game last season and was seventh in the MAC in rebounding with 6.4 a game. He is one of the five returning starters from last season and of those five, he was the only one to start all 32 games. Scott was an All-MAC honorable mention last season after the team finished its ninth straight season of 20 wins.

Scott was voted on the East Division team along with Akron’s Jeremiah Wood, Miami’s Tim Pollitz and Ohio’s Leon Williams and Jerome Tillman. The West Division was made up of Ball State’s Peyton Stovall, Central Michigan’s Giordan Watson, Toledo’s Kashif Payne and Eastern Michigan’s Carlos Medlock.

The Flashes begin the season Nov. 10 at Detroit and have their first home game Nov.15 against Hampton.
