The second annual Chocolate Fest, sponsored by Big Brothers and Sisters of Portage County, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Maplewood Career Center in Ravenna.

The Chocolate Fest is an event to help raise money for the non-profit organization.

Ron Kilchenman, associate director for Big Brothers and Sisters of Portage County, said the event raised $3,200 last year. Its goal for this year is to raise $5,000 or more.

“We use the profits to recruit more adult volunteers to be the big brother or big sister,” Kilchenman said. “We advertise in the Stater every day to recruit volunteers.”

Tickets cost $5 and are good for a sample from eight of the 13 vendors, which include Bistro on Main, Metropolis Popcorn, Dairy Queen and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Some of the treats that will be served are pies, ice cream, cupcakes, fudge and nutty caramel brownies.

“It’s a fun event where people show up and we are just eating,” Kilchenman said. “And, it’s chocolate – everything is in the form of chocolate.”
