Allerton conveniently located on KSU campus

Located on campus, Allerton Apartments are rented by the university and run by Residence Services. Only upperclassmen and students with families can rent the apartments – one person in each apartment must be enrolled at the university.

Lisa Childs, residence manager at Allerton, said her experience there has been very positive.

Childs said the community is very diverse, with a lot of families and international students.

Yen-Ju Chang, a graduate student of English as a second language, said she doesn’t dislike anything about her apartment.

“Everyone says ‘hello,'” she said. “It’s very friendly.”

Childs organizes social programs such as bowling and an Easter celebration for the residents.

Because the apartments are rented by the university, Childs said, students can apply financial aid toward their rent.

Heating, gas, electricity, cable TV and high-speed Internet are included with rent, and the only thing students have to pay for is a land phone, if they want one. Students can get furniture, including beds and dressers, at no extra charge.

Allerton offers a 24-hour computer lab and study lounge, as well as coin-operated laundry rooms.

As in residence halls, the only pets allowed are fish, and residents must purchase parking permits through the university.

As many as two single students can rent an apartment, and families may include as many as four residents. One-bedroom apartments cost $660 per month, and two-bedroom apartments cost $690 per month.
