In good company

By defeating Buffalo last night, the Kent State men’s basketball team secured its ninth-straight 20-win season. Only six other Division I programs in the country have won at least 20 games during the same nine-year stretch. This, of course, puts Kent State in company with some elite programs: Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse.

Arizona is currently on an eight-year stretch of winning 20, but their streak will be coming to an end unless they win their last two games of the regular season.

Mid-game musings

Although the Kent State fan base has been somewhat disappointing this season, the Kent State faithful have nothing to hang their heads about when compared to Bowling Green’s.

The Falcon’s Nest stands tall in the front row of Anderson Arena, all 11 of them. The Bowling Green student section looked more like the Burger King Kids’ Club than a student section last night.

They were a quiet non-factor for the entire first half. Although, they do have an excuse: The Falcons are an abysmal 2-12 in conference play.
