The Board of Trustees held its first meeting of the semester today, and decided to rename the Paul H. Jones Child Development Center in light of Jones’ recent felony conviction.

The building will be renamed the Kent State University Child Development Center. The building was named in recognition of Jones, a state representative and former mayor, in 1990.

During the meeting, representatives from the AT&T Foundation presented the university with a $300,000 grant to improve Kent State’s Research Center for Educational Technology and the existing AT&T classroom.

Other actions at the Board of Trustees meeting included:

n Establishment of a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies.

n Establishment of an accelerated bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in the nursing program.

n Updates to the university’s policy regarding unlawful discrimination and harassment.
