The Kent State men’s basketball team lost 80-83 in a double-overtime thriller to Butler last night in Indianapolis.

The Flashes faced an undefeated Bulldogs team, who also were coming off an upset win over Gonzaga on Friday in the NIT preseason tournament finals.

Kent State led for most of regulation and had nine-point lead at one point in the second half.

However, Butler (7-0) landed clutch shots at the end of regulation and the first overtime before taking hold in the final minutes of the second overtime.

Bulldogs guard A.J. Graves made a steal and a pair of free throws in the final seconds to secure the comeback win.

Junior forward Haminn Quaintance snagged 6 rebounds and led Kent State scorers with 20 points.

In his first game back from a team suspension, senior guard Omni Smith came away with 18 points.
