Speaker to discuss global social issues

Fair trade, diversity and violence – these problems will be the topic of a presentation tonight.

The Rev. Charles Currie, president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities will present “Millennials in Search of Justice and the Common Good.” It is sponsored by the Catholic Student Association, Diocese of Youngstown Department of Social Action and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, and will address social issues’ relationship to faith and college.

Newman Center Pastor John Jerek said this presentation would enlighten all students on current global issues.

“This presentation applies to Christians, Jews, Muslims and people of all faiths,” Jerek said. “He is presenting from a position of faith, and though he is Catholic, he is talking about searching for a common good, and that isn’t strictly for Catholics, but for people of all faiths, everywhere.”

“Millenials in Search of Justice and the Common Good” will be in the Kiva tonight at 7:30 p.m.
