Kent and area communities are holding the following events to commemorates fallen U.S. soldiers for Memorial Day on Monday, May 29:

• Kent — A Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. starting at 115 S. Depeyster St. proceeding toward Main Street Bridge. Following a service and gun salute, the parade will continue to a ceremony at Standing Rock Cemetery on North Mantua Street.

• Akron — The Kenmore High School Band and the Firestone Memorial Post 449 color guard and firing squad will perform at a 10:30 a.m. service at Akron Greenlawn Cemetery, 2580 Romig Road.

• Cuyahoga Falls — A parade will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. starting at State Road Plaza and ending with a ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery on Oakwood Drive.

• Hudson — After arranging on Atterbury Boulevard, a parade will start at 9 a.m. and continue to 11:55 a.m. with services at St. Mary’s Markillie Cemetery.
