School of Art hosts a panel discussion

The School of Art will host an interdisciplinary symposium titled “Why and What We Teach: Stories of Our Lives in the Arts” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in room 310 of the Student Center.

The conference is a way to “ignite the spirit of inter disciplinary collaborations and spark conversations within the College of Art and beyond,” said assistant art professor Koon-Hwee Kan.

A panel chaired by Christine Havice, director of the School of Art, will consist of three educators: Assistant Dance Professor Barbara Verlezza, Assistant Music Professor Dwayne Wasson and Assistant Art Professor Linda Hoeptner-Poling. The educators will share meaningful stories about their lives that motivated them and inspired their works, Kan said.

Following the panel discussion there will be three workshops that will teach participants ways to integrate the arts into all forms of teaching and learning.
