The Board of Zoning Appeals approved a grant last night for a 29-foot variance to allow an addition to be built 16 feet from Norwood Street.

Brad Brotje, builder with Tejon Building Company, presented his request to build a second garage space onto the existing garage at 530 Beech Drive.

The property, a single-family residence, is accessible from both Beech Drive and Norwood Street.

Diane Werner, member of the board, said the addition would not be a detriment to the surrounding neighborhood.

In other business, Peter Paino, another member of the board, suggested the board receive any drawings of future projects in advance.

Paino said seeing all angles of a project will allow the committee to make a decision more easily.

The board will meet again May 15.
