Men’s basketball takes on IPFW tomorrow

After a strong win over Cleveland State, the Kent State men’s basketball team is preparing to take on Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. tomorrow night at the M.A.C. Center.

The Flashes (4-2) won their third straight game in an 83-68 offensive effort on Saturday.

The Flashes are led by seniors Jay Youngblood, DeAndre Haynes, Kevin Warzynski and Nate Gerwig.

Youngblood added 19 more points to his season total of 104 on Saturday. He averages a team-high 17.3 points per game and has a made field goal percentage of .532 percent; second only to sophomore Mike Scott whose average is .579 percent.

Youngblood leads the Flashes in total points, followed by senior forward Kevin Warzynski, who has 63 points in the season.

Warzynski posted 13 points in Saturday’s game, including one 3-pointer. He leads the squad in rebounds as well with 35 total rebounds, averaging 5.8 per game.

The Mastodons (2-5) are coming off of a 65-30 loss at Illinois State last night. The last time the Flashes played IPFW, the Flashes won 81-72 on Jan. 17 in Kent. They lead the series 4-0.

After tomorrow’s game, the Flashes head to Southern Illinois on Saturday.
