Faculty Senate accepting nominations for 13 vacant seats

Faculty Senate is accepting nominations for 13 seats that will become vacant in May.

Faculty members can nominate themselves or someone else as long as they meet the criteria, Faculty Senate Secretary Thomas Janson said.

Senators, who are elected for three-year terms, can serve as long as they like, Janson said.

The Senate seats are divided up into individual units, depending on the department or campus. The vacancies for this election are:

  • One seat each for the Ashtabula and Tuscarawas Campus
  • Four seats for non-tenure track faculty
  • One seat for the College of Communication and Information
  • Three seats from the College of Education, Health and Human Services
  • Two seats from the College of Fine and Professional Arts
  • One at-large seat for a full-time tenure-track faculty member from the Kent Campus

The Senate sent out ballots by e-mail, which must be returned by Dec. 16. The elections will be held in March.

The forms can be returned through campus mail, fax or by dropping the nominations off at the Senate Office in the DeWeese Health Center, Janson said.

“I would even come pick the nominations up if that is necessary,” he said. “I am eager to get more people involved in the process.”
