The last time the Kent State basketball team went to Youngstown State, it was the 2001-2002 Elite Eight season.

The Penguins went on a run after trailing by 17 at halftime to beat the Flashes 75-70 on Dec. 15, 2001.

Tonight, the Flashes (2-2) travel to Youngstown State (1-2) at 7:35 p.m. at the Beeghly Center.

The Flashes are coming off of an 82-70 win over Texas-Pan American in the final game of the South Padre Island Invitational last Saturday.

Senior guard Jay Youngblood led the Flashes with a season-high 26 points, including 11 points during the Flashes’ 20-9 second-half run.

The Penguins are returning home after a 67-62 loss at Akron last Saturday. They were not able to keep a 15-point lead nearly halfway through the second half, allowing Akron to go on an 18-2 run.

The Flashes return home this weekend to play Cleveland State at 7 p.m. Saturday at the M.A.C. Center.
