Aloha, Lil’ Sibs.

The Hawaiian-themed Lil’ Sibs Weekend, sponsored by Kent Interhall Council, is April 15 to 17. Registration deadline is today.

Late registration is also available April 15 during check-in time from 5 to 8 p.m. in the upper level of Eastway.

During this time, siblings and students will receive a wristband to participate in the events.

The festivities are open to all students, faculty and staff.

Activities will kick off Friday night at 6 with the Hawaiian luau party. Children can then participate in making different crafts, like wax model hands. There will also be airbrush tattoos available and a caricature artist.

Mr. Balloon will be at the event, making numerous balloon animals of all shapes and sizes.

Children can make their own music videos with the Starstruck Studio, providing a background screen and a wardrobe for those aspiring singers.

Late check-in will be available from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the KIC office for those who just want to participate in that afternoon’s activities.

Saturday afternoon will be filled with events for the sibs, including a climbing wall, candy necklace making and Velcro Olympics, where children wear Velcro suits and try to make their way through an obstacle course.

KIC has rented inflatables for the afternoon, including one for laser tag and another for a jousting game.

The weekend will end with a dance from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Student Center, complete with a disc jockey.

Beth Aurin, vice president of programming for KIC, said she believes Lil’ Sibs Weekend is a worthwhile experience for siblings and students.

“It’s a great program. Students can bring their sibs to see what they do here instead of just seeing them at home,” Aurin said.

More than 1,500 siblings are already registered.

Lil’ Sibs Weekend is an opportunity to not only visit with family but also for possible future Kent State students to see the university, KIC President Scott McCallen said.

“Lil’ Sibs is a great experience for kids to get acquainted with Kent State. It’s a fun and exciting weekend,” McCallen said.
