Kent State Stark to host college job fair

Imagine a place where employers are plentiful and resumés are exchanged like U.S. currency in Canada. Imagine a place where employers ask if you’re interested in their company — and not the other way around.

That place is not too far-fetched. It’s as real as the 15th Annual Stark County Collegiate Job Fair hosted tomorrow by Kent State Stark. The fair is from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Professional Education and Conference Center in Canton.

Chris Paveloi, assistant director of Enrollment Management and Student Services at Stark, said the fair is a collaboration of colleges in Stark County, including Kent State Stark, Walsh, Mount Union, Malone and Stark State.

Career services representatives and directors from each college recruit businesses throughout the year to set up a booth at the fair.

“This year, we have 63 businesses,” Paveloi said. “We have a lot of repeat customers because they’ve seen the effectiveness of the fair.”

The only requirements for the fair are that students come dressed professionally and bring multiple copies of their resumés.

“Some employers have been known to interview students on the spot,” Paveloi said.

All college students and graduates are encouraged to attend the event.
