Kennedy named to NCAA committee

Brief

Kent State Athletic Director Laing Kennedy was named to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee, starting Sept. 1, the group announced yesterday.

He will serve a five-year term on the committee.

Kennedy replaces Bob Bowlsby, athletic director at Iowa, and is only the second representative from a Mid-American Conference school ever. Richard Shrider, former athletic director at Miami, served on the committee from 1981-87.

Part of Kennedy’s duties include his involvement with the NCAA Tournament selection committee. He is in his 11th year at Kent State and is the administrative chairman for men’s basketball in the MAC. He served on the Men’s Ice Hockey Committee while athletic director at Cornell.
