Kent State Athletics will debut its official craft beer, Kent State Golden Lager, at the home-opening football game against Long Island Saturday.

Sibling Revelry Brewing out of Westlake, Ohio, created the lager. The brewery partnered with the athletic department to feature the KSU Athletics logo and the blue and gold colors on the can, according to Tuesday’s press release.

“Familiar, yet subtly robust,” the release said, “Golden Lager was brewed to be easy drinking, crisp and accessible and is sure to become a new staple in the way fans can celebrate and support their teams.”

Individual 12-ounce cans will be available at concession stands at Kent State athletic events and in retailers around Kent and Northeast Ohio. Greater Cleveland grocery stores will carry six-packs.

Brothers and cousins of the Kennedy Family opened the brewery in 2016. In the release, Mike Hammond, a 2008 alumnus and Sibling Revelry’s director of sales and marketing, said, “we are proud alumni and happy to partner with Kent State on this project, raising awareness for both brands.”

“Kent State holds a special place in our hearts,” Hammond said. “We hope everyone enjoys this lager and remembers the good times at Kent State.”

Saturday’s game against the LIU Sharks starts at noon at Dix Stadium.
