Women’s golf finishes in 11th place at The Show event

Kent State’s women’s golf team finished 11th, missing the top 10 by a stroke in The Show event in Las Vegas, Nevada, last weekend.

The team finished with a score of +26 which was one shot back of Purdue in the tenth place spot.

Individually, the team was led by freshman Leon Takagi and senior Noramol Nuchsila who finished in a tie for 40th with a score of +7 on the week.

Takagi had the only score under par for the Flashes on the week with a -1 final round.

Takagi was named Mid-American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for her performance. She had a team-best score of 71.

Sophomore Jennifer Gu and senior Mayka Hoogeboom finished just behind, placing 42nd and 48th, respectively.

Junior Berta Sanchez rounded out the team in a tie for 65th.

Mississippi State, ranked number six, won The Show with a team score of -9.

The Flashes will return to the course March 6 in Dallas, Texas, for the Trinity Forest Invitational.
