The Tri Towers Rotunda has been locked 24/7 since August 21 due to non-residents entering the building. 

The Rotunda is a residential space on campus connecting Wright, Leebrick and Koonce residence halls. All students who reside on campus still have access to enter the building, said Marybeth Herman, senior desk assistant. 

Last school year there were issues regarding non-students in residence halls, Herman said. 

“We were having a lot of issues last school year with people who did not go to school at Kent hanging out in the lobbies, going to Rosie’s (a dining area in the towers) since they can pay with card. We had a lot of people sleeping here overnight in the lobbies who did not attend Kent State University,” Herman said. 

After months of discussion, Kent State decided to permanently lock the doors 24/7.

Students can learn more about how to access the building by watching this video on Instagram. 

“A lot of off campus students we get at the doors, we let in, and if they have a meal plan, we have a QR code that at the desk they can scan. They can opt-in to Rosie’s and then they should be given access, and we’ve had success with this,” Herman said.
