Football routed by Ball State for 10th loss of the season

Kent State’s football team got off to a slow start and could not come back against Ball State (4-7, 3-4), falling to the Cardinals 34-3.

KSU fell to 1-10 on the season, hitting the double-digit loss mark for the first time since 2018.

The Flashes played two quarterbacks who combined for 8-22 passing, 68 yards and no touchdowns.

The only Kent State points came on a 45-yard field goal from junior kicker Andrew Glass.

This was the fifth time the Flashes have failed to score a touchdown in a game this season.

BSU outran Kent State by a large margin, going for 300 yards on the ground to KSU’s 29.

Most of Ball State’s rushing yards came from former Flash Marquez Cooper, a redshirt junior running back, who ran for 140 yards on 25 attempts while also scoring a rushing touchdown.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Kiael Kelly added 88 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns for Ball State.

The Cardinals averaged three extra yards per play compared to the Flashes – BSU averaged 5.62 to Kent State’s 2.02.

The final game of the season for KSU will be against Northern Illinois at noon Nov. 25 at Dix Stadium.
