Whether shopping for a significant other, friends or oneself this Valentine’s Day, downtown Kent has several local spots to shop for any sweet-treat needs.

Daisy Pops

New to the Kent area in brick-and-mortar form, Daisy Pops takes cake pops to a new level. This February, they will offer seven different Valentine’s-inspired cake pop options.

“This is the first Valentine’s Day that we’ve had the pop-shop open, so this is our first round,” owner Amy Mucha said. “We usually go through a decent amount of holiday pops.”

Customers can choose from a variety of decorated cake pops, with shapes including teddy bears, mason jars and roses, among others. Rose pops are sold at $11 per 4- pack and the Valentine’s pops are $13.

Aside from cake pops, the shop is offering conversation heart and chocolate covered strawberry inspired cake bites, as well as pun-inspired cakesicles. Cake bites, which are bite-sized cake pieces, are available for $20 a pack. Cakesicles, cake pieces shaped like popsicles, are sold at $6 a pack.

Daisy Pops, located at 154 N. Water St. is bringing in Kelly Norville’s DuPree Florals, a local florist, to provide floral arrangements to pair with the cake treats.

Rocco’s Cupcake Café

Rocco’s Cupcake Café, which opened in February 2023, will feature a special menu only offered on Valentine’s Day. Located at 295 S. Water St., people can buy cupcakes in flavors including red velvet, double dark chocolate, monkey business and strawberry shortcake.

Cupcakes will be available for pre-order and walk-in customers. Cupcakes are sold for $3.50 a piece and $36 a dozen.

“Come in and grab cupcakes with your friends,” employee Elora Keiser said.

Insomnia Cookies

If someone is craving cookies, Insomnia Cookies will have multiple Valentine’s Day specials.

The “Sweetheart Pack,” according to its website, includes a big heart-shaped cookie and scoop of ice cream for $44.99. Customers can even get a personalized message iced on the cookie.

People can choose from a variety of flavors for the cookie, like red velvet, double chocolate mint and snickerdoodle.

Insomnia Cookies, located at 295 S. Water St. and just a few doors down from Rocco’s Cupcakes, will also offer a “Hot Date Pack,” featuring a six-inch classic cookie cake and 12 warm cookies, served in a decorated Valentines-themed box for $47.99.

Both Insomnia Cookies and Daisy Pops are available on DoorDash and Grubhub.
