Prioritizing comfort over cuteness is a common struggle people deal with when picking out what to wear.

Whether someone’s in a time crunch and needs something last minute, planning a birthday outfit they can’t wait to wear or just wants to be comfortable, comfy versus cute is an ordinary debate in fashion choices.

“I like to be comfortable when I go out, so I usually wear leggings or sweats with a cute sweater or zip-up, and accessorize with colorful jewelry and shoes,” Ella Robertson, senior communication studies and speech language pathology double major, said.

She also said that it depends on the day; if it’s a weekday she will normally go the comfy route, but if it’s a weekend she occasionally likes to dress up.

Sometimes it can be fun to dress up with friends, have the whole group dress cute and hit the town. It can help people feel confident and act as a way to show off personal style and self-expression.

“When I go to the bars my go-to is jeans with a plain, basic top,” Caroline Snyder, senior speech language pathology major, said. “I like to accessorize with fun jewelry and a cool purse to elevate the look.”

Snyder said that she doesn’t really care what she wears as long as she feels confident in it.

Whether it’s going out on a low-key Tuesday night for ladies night at Water Street Tavern or a fun weekend downtown, are you team comfy or cute?
