Kelsey’s Flick Pick: ‘The Strangers’

The Strangers

‘The Strangers’

My roommates wasted no time decorating our house for Halloween. On the first official day of fall, we had cobwebs strewn across our bushes, a grim reaper hanging from our porch and black lights above our mailbox.

That being said, I’ve been in the mood to watch scary movies. “The Strangers” is a 2008 film starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. The couple stays the night at a vacation home in the woods, far away from any possible neighbors.

Masked strangers begin to knock at the door and then find their way into the house. There are only five characters in the movie, and it relies heavily on facial expressions and eerie music that plays incessantly from an old record player.

The scariest part of the film is the fact that that it’s supposedly based on a true story — a 911 call plays at the end — and the reasoning for the terrorization is simply because the two “were home.”
