Fitness Diary: Week 5

Melissa Puppo

I hope by now you’re all feeling at least a little inspired by my weekly updates as I change my workout ways. I went through with my week of giving up mayonnaise and cheese, and I’m happy to announce that I did it!

What I’ve learned is that it’s easier than I expected to replace certain foods, drinks and dressings every now and then. You don’t always have to smother your sandwich with mayonnaise; you don’t always have to pour the ranch on your salads. Vinegar and oil are still tasty additions, and so much healthier for you. Most importantly, if you are someone who drinks soda all the time, STOP. Drink water — it’ll make a difference. I cut out soda from my diet more than a year ago, and it’s great.

Making these changes may seem huge at the time, but it will only get easier. It’s all about making small changes that will benefit you in the long run.

I have more good news, my fitness friends! I can now bench 60 pounds and squat while holding 70 pounds. I am so proud of myself. This week has made me the sorest yet, though —I kid you not, I couldn’t even bend to put laundry in the washing machine because my legs hurt so badly.

It was a lot of hard work, but I am very excited to keep excelling and pushing myself. I am finally noticing a lot of results in how my body is becoming more toned as well as how I am physically getting stronger. Keep pushing because seeing the hard work pay off is worth it.
