The Kent State volleyball team will host the Golden Flashes Classic, a three-match series, beginning Friday night at the M.A.C. Center.

The Flashes (3-6) are coming off a successful trip to the Thunder Invitational last weekend, where they won two out of three matches.

Kent State will be looking to bounce back from its last loss in a five-set match against Marshall last Saturday. The Binghamton Bearcats, the Flashes’ first opponent of the weekend, enter the meet with a record of 2-8 and are coming off a three-set sweep against Siena in their last match.

Following the Binghamton match, the Flashes will play the Eastern Illinois Panthers, who hold the best record of the teams competing at 4-6, and finish off the weekend against the Illinois-Chicago Flames (4-7).

This invitational marks the Flashes’ first competitive home games of the season, following trips to Indiana, California and West Virginia in the past three weeks.

The Thunder Invitational was the best set of games the squad has played so far this season, with wins over Eastern Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Sophomore Kelly Hutchison and senior captain Hannah Herc led the way as each were named to the all-tournament team after impressive performances.

The first game of the Golden Flashes Classic will begin at 7 p.m. Friday against Binghamton. The Flashes continue play Saturday when they face Eastern Illinois beginning at 12:30 p.m. and Illinois-Chicago beginning at 7 p.m.
