The Kent State men’s and women’s cross country teams will travel to the Bronx, N.Y. to compete in the Iona Meet of Champions looking to improve after a impressive season opener less than two weeks ago.

The Flashes will compete against a field of 21 teams at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The teams will face competition from Navy, Army, Brown, Yale and more.

The women’s team had four top-10 finishers at the Tommy Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Akron on Sept. 5. Junior Paige Foster and sophomore Rachel Slingluff led the way for the ladies, crossing the finish line in fourth and fifth place.

The men are looking for better finishes this week after senior Steve Fischer and freshman Julian Meyer where the only two to finish in the top 10 at the Tommy Evans Invite.

The gun fires for the women’s 6k race at 9:30 a.m., with the men’s 8k race starting at 10:15 a.m.
