Best of Kent: best sandwich shop

Twisted Meltz, located at 164 E. Main Street, was voted the second-best sandwich shop in Kent in the annual Best of Kent competition. Pictured above is a Paul Warfield sandwich, a Scouts Honor Mint milkshake and a side of fries. 

First place: Franklin Square Deli 

Franklin Square Deli is dedicated to offering high-quality products at low prices. Kent State students appreciate the fresh ingredients at the motor-sport themed restaurant. 

Franklin Square Deli is located in downtown Kent, on the corner of Water Street and Main Street. The restaurant’s menu focuses on fresh and cut to order sandwiches made just how customers want. The menu features 50 different Italian sandwiches and homemade soup. 

Second place: Twisted Meltz 

Twisted Meltz is a family-owned restaurant that has more than 25 gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, soups, salads, appetizers and craft beers. The restaurant also offers ice cream, shakes and sundaes. Twisted Meltz can serve anyone, even vegans. The restaurant has natural meats and cheeses, as well as gluten free products.  

Third place: Penn Station

Penn Station is known for its sandwiches, fresh-cut fries and hand-squeezed lemonade. The potatoes are hand selected and cooked in cholesterol-free peanut oil, which adds to the flavor of the fries. Penn Station has a wide variety of sandwiches that can satisfy the taste of everyone that walks in.
