Youngblood named MAC East Player of the Week

For the second time this season, Kent State men’s basketball senior guard Jay Youngblood was named as the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week.

In the Flashes’ (19-7, 12-2 MAC) overtime wins over Buffalo and Butler last week, Youngblood averaged 23.5 points and four rebounds.

At Buffalo Wednesday, Youngblood scored 22 points, including 8-of-13 field goals. Against Butler, he scored a team-high 25 points. He sunk 8-of-10 field attempts and went 3-of-3 from outside the arc.

Youngblood now has eight games this season where he scored at least 20 points.

As the team’s leading scorer, he averages 14.8 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Kent State is tied for the No. 1 spot in the MAC with cross-town rival Akron. The Flashes will attempt to make this season their eighth straight 20-win season at 7 p.m. tonight at Bowling Green.
