Downtown Kent bars will be mixing up some new, special drink creations this Fake Patty’s Day on March 9 to reel in the sea of green.

Here is what some local spots will be offering:

Panini’s Bar and Grill

Patty’s Day celebrators can make the most of the day by heading to Panini’s Bar and Grill on Water Street as early as 7 a.m. for a 99 cent breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast and “all that kind of stuff,” manager Josh Lewis said.

Panini’s will be serving $3 green beer all day, along with a few traditional Irish beers and liquors. The bar will also have shot specials, including car bombs, Irish coffee, Jameson shots, green Jello shots and more.

“We will really be able to pack the house and make sure everybody has a great, safe time,” Lewis said.

The Loft

While The Loft’s signature drink, “The Incredible Hulk,” is already green, the bar located on Main Street will offer special drinks just for Fake Patty’s Day.

General manager Micheal Bird said The Loft will have drinks called “loose slipper” and “margarita mayhem” for Fake Patty’s weekend.

“The loose slipper is a different take on the ruby slipper,” Bird said. “I can’t tell you what’s in it, but it’s going to be green and glow a little bit.”

Another drink offered for the occasion is the margarita mayhem.

“It’ll be completely salted, usually they salt the rim; we’re going to salt the entire glass. It’ll also overpour a little bit, but that’s just for the dramatic effect,” he said.

Bird said people should spend time at The Loft on Fake Patty’s Day because, “The vibe is you can do whatever the hell you want.”

Ray’s Place

Patty’s Day partakers can head to Franklin Avenue, where Ray’s Place will have a variety of Irish drinks for the holiday.

Owner Charlie Thomas said the bar gets busy for Fake Patty’s, and it should, because, “We’re the best.”

Including an Irish spring drink, Irish mule, and an Irish drink with Red Bull, Ray’s will have plenty of options for the day’s festivities.
