The freezing January temperatures have some Kent residents frustrated, with their frustrations lingering over to reasons other than the cold.

“As you can see it’s quite slippery it’s hard to walk and if you wear snow boots its hard to walk and hard to go to university on time,” Holly Park resident Sravan Kumarredha said.

In several Kent apartment complexes the ice in the parking lots is becoming a bigger problem.

“So it rained last night and it completely froze over. So now it’s so slick it’s all like black ice. It’s just like constantly trying not to fall and totally trying not to bust your butt on the ice, it’s terrible,” Holly Park resident Gillian Dorn said.

Despite these difficulties, residents are saying not much is being done.

“I know they haven’t iced the parking lot or salted the parking lot at all. As far as I know the sidewalks have been pretty good but the parking lot as far as that, they haven’t really taken much care of it,” Dorn said.

Those behind the wheel and on foot are preparing to take extra precautions because of the prevalence of ice.

“Put your foot out and feel how slippery it is before you walk and trying to avoid places that you can see the ice a lot. Walking where you know there isn’t ice if you can see the sidewalk or trying to stay on parts where there’s snow on top.”
