suggested hed: Dix Stadium to receive new turf, women’s soccer team

Kent State plans to install new turf in Dix Stadium and (CQ) Murphy-Mellis field as part of a $1.25 million project.

The changes were first announced at the Board of Trustees meeting in March by Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration (CQ) Mark Polatajko.

The field renovation begins this summer, and will include turf replacement and field expansion.

The women’s soccer team will move from (CQ) Zoeller field to Dix Stadium as well.

“Women’s soccer played half of their season in Dix Stadium and we had success if you look at our record,” said Director of Athletics Communications (CQ) Eugene Canal. “We actually ended up hosting the MAC championship there and won, and were looking for another successful year in Dix Stadium.”
