This will be a big weekend for Kent State Athletics as they plan to officially announce their new branding and game day experience between a doubleheader for the Kent State basketball games this Saturday.

Kent State kicked the festivities off Wednesday by adding two new banners to the front of the M.A.C. One of the banners features a picture of the back of a men’s basketball jersey and says “Charge Up,” while the other has a picture of Flash the mascot with the words “Home is where the hype is.” The university has been advertising the event with the tagline “Pack the MACC.”

The game day festivities will start at 2 p.m. this Friday with a FLASH rally in the Kent State Student Center, which will have food and music. The Kent State women’s basketball team will then take the floor at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the M.A.C. Center when they go against MAC West rival Toledo University. The Flashes will be coming off one of their biggest wins in recent memory, as they beat MAC East favorite Ohio University 68-65 last week.

Kent State athletics will be unveiling their new game day activities and additions throughout both the men’s and women’s games. University president Beverly Warren will be participating in the pre-game festivities as well. The day will then close out the men’s basketball game against Toledo. The men’s team lost 82-69 to defending MAC champions University at Buffalo their last time out.

Kent State went through a rebranding in February 2016 when the school changed their brand to “Undeniably Kent State.” The school’s previous tagline was “Excellence in Action.”

The M.A.C. Center has been open since 1950 and Kent State’s mascot has been the Golden Flash since 1926.
