After a loss against Northern Illinois University on February 20, Kent State’s Varsity League of Legends team is 4-4 in the Esports Collegiate Tournament. With three games still up for grabs, making it to the playoffs is still possible.

In the season, 12 teams play 11 best-of-three matches. A win is worth three points and the top four teams at the end of the season make it into the playoffs. Four wins give Kent State Esports 12 points in the season.

Currently, there is a four-way tie for first place between UBuffalo Esports, the Miami Redhawks, the Northeastern University Huskies and the Northern Illinois University.

Kent State’s next game is against Northern Illinois University at 7 p.m. on February 25. Northern Illinois is one of four teams tied for first place at the moment. A win means Kent State’s playoff dreams stay alive.

“If we’re gonna beat any of the top teams right now, I’d say we’d probably beat them (Northern Illinois),” said Kenny Parker, the mid-laner for Kent State.

The game will be live-streamed on the Kent State Esports Twitch page.
