Scribble’s Coffee Shop under new management

Previous owners of the café Scribbles, Rodney and Carla Wilson, sold the shop last week to two friends, Jenn Richards and Beth Budzar.

The new owners worked at Scribbles for six years, and were also involved in it’s opening. Richards said she felt that purchasing Scribbles would be a nice change that would still allow her to be a part of the Kent community. She is the former owner of the Miller Community House, which provides emergency shelter and supportive services to men, women and children experiencing a housing crisis.

The new Scribbles is now open from 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., but Richards said they may extend their hours during finals week. Their grand opening Sept. 7 will feature music by Akron duo ShiSho as well as poetry readings and free samples of their two new drinks, Matcha Frappé and Himalayan Salted Caramel.

Scribbles will serve some Bent Tree Coffee but most of their coffee will come from their roaster in Cincinnati. The Wilson’s left Scribbles so they could work on their organic farm in Kentucky.
